Grandmother’s Quilt

I spent all weekend either in bed or curled up on the sofa. I read the Sunday paper, watched college football, watched pro football, and watched NASCAR; Ok that last part isn’t exactly true. The television was on but I mostly napped and kept the fire burning in the fire place. I stayed snuggled up in my grandmother’s quilt.

I swear that my grandmother’s quilt has magical healing powers. She made it out of scraps from my old baby blankets and baby clothes. When I turned sweet sixteen she gave me this wonderful gift. Whenever I’m feeling sad or alone, sick or afraid, that old quilt soothes away whatever ails me. I took that quilt off to Emory with me, and I plan on passing it down to my daughter one day.

Anyway, I stayed snuggled up in that quilt all weekend long and did my best to shake off the remnants off that horrible cold. I feel really good today. I think I’m almost at 100 percent. I went to the gym and did a light workout. I didn’t want to push myself too hard.

I came into the office early to catch up on some work that I just didn’t feel like getting to. Even though I was at work, I sure didn’t accomplish much. At least It doesn’t seem like I did any real work. Oh well, I got to get ready for my departmental meeting now and get back into the swing of things.
