If you didn’t notice, I didn’t post a picture last Thursday either. See, I saw that the Rubbernecker had linked my humble Blog the other week. Now, I can assure you that I haven’t been obsessing over his post for the last few weeks. I have much better and more important things to do. However, I have been thinking about one valid point he did make, “These people can't get traffic to their site with their awesome writing ability and so they resort to stripping and exposing themselves to keep the hits rolling in.”

I admit that I did enjoy the hits that my half-nekkidness was bringing to my Blog. I was having fun and reading and seeing great people too. However, I must agree that my Blog should be more about the writing than my body. I realized that there was actually more flesh than substance on my little page. I don’t always have the time to write out a complete idea, but in the future I will try to write more than expose myself. Then maybe I can in good conscience resume Half-Nekkid Thursday Madison style.

Speaking of writing, isn’t it funny that mister rubbernecker the critic is quick to point out everyone else’s frailties and faults. Someone needs to look into the mirror. What an asshat.

Too Much Time

Some people have way too much time on their hands.

Paper covers rock?

School Days

You paid attention during 100% of high school!

85-100% You must be an autodidact, because American high schools don't get scores that high! They didn’t have gyms back in those days. Well, at least not in like they are now. My grandmother’s spa was like a YWCA. There was a pool and a sauna and it was for women only. She would take me there when I would visit during the summers.

When I got a little older I didn’t want to go with grandmother. I wanted to hangout with my grandfather. He would take me down to the “Market” and show me off to his pals. The Market was his stock broker’s office. There was a huge stock ticker scrolling the symbols hanging from the ceiling. I would place my buy order and watch as my stock would go up or down. After the market we would head out to a couple of bars. My Grandfather would drink a beer and I’d have a coke. Then we would go to another bar. I think we would stop off at three or four bars before we headed for home.

Small town life sure was grand.

Kitty Carnival

The 137th Carnival of the Cats is up over at Crazy Meezer. Go check out all the kitty goodness.

On Display

The Friday Ark 111 is afloat over at the Modulator's. A normal sea breeze is vodka and cranberry juice with a splash of grapefruit juice. The devil is in the details let me tell ya.

Anyway, I ended up dressed as “Snow White.” Here is the picture from the internet site where I bought the costume last year. I read the Sunday paper, watched college football, watched pro football, and watched NASCAR; Ok that last part isn’t exactly true. The television was on but I mostly napped and kept the fire burning in the fire place. I stayed snuggled up in my grandmother’s quilt.

I swear that my grandmother’s quilt has magical healing powers. She made it out of scraps from my old baby blankets and baby clothes. When I turned sweet sixteen she gave me this wonderful gift. Whenever I’m feeling sad or alone, sick or afraid, that old quilt soothes away whatever ails me. I took that quilt off to Emory with me, and I plan on passing it down to my daughter one day.

Anyway, I stayed snuggled up in that quilt all weekend long and did my best to shake off the remnants off that horrible cold. I feel really good today. I think I’m almost at 100 percent. I went to the gym and did a light workout. I didn’t want to push myself too hard.

I came into the office early to catch up on some work that I just didn’t feel like getting to. Even though I was at work, I sure didn’t accomplish much. At least It doesn’t seem like I did any real work. Oh well, I got to get ready for my departmental meeting now and get back into the swing of things.

Carnival Time

The Carnival of the Cats #135 is up and running over at Catcall. I just didn’t want my three loyal readers to be concerned. I’ve still had to work even though I still have that icky feeling and my body still aches. I usually catch one in the early spring too.

I’ve loaded up on juice and vitamins, put and extra blanket on the bed, and have a pantry full of chicken soup. Actually, Nancy and her husband Drew stopped in to check on me last night. They are my neighbors from across the street. Nancy made me a homemade chicken pot pie and Drew changed the filters in my furnace. He said that tapped dust, pollen and animal dander help create an environment that could promote illness.

Anyway, I’m feeling better today than I did yesterday. You can’t judge a book by its cover. How can a man with such a great cover be such a loser? Richard had the body, the hair, the career, however he was just lacking in personality. He wasn’t so bad; I guess there was a personality conflict, like he had none.

Chops is really a great restaurant. I’ve eaten there plenty of times. I like their prime rib. It’s really delicious. I know that restaurants prepare food and there is a chance of getting food poisoning no matter where you go out to eat. I just didn’t need a dissertation on safe food handling practices and infectious disease. I just wanted to scream, “It’s a restaurant not a level 3 germ lab for Christ sakes!” I’m surprised this guy even goes out in public without a hazmat suit much less a gym.

I should have known the evening was going to be a bust when he had some gansta-rap cd playing in his car stereo. Richard could have cleaned out his car a little better before picking me up too. It was just a bad first impression. Normally I don’t nitpick but once I got started I just couldn’t stop.

Buckhead was a lot of fun. I haven’t gone out down there in a long while. I should have “gotten” a headache and gone back out, after Richard dropped me off back home.

It’s really a shame because I was smokin’ hot too.

What to Wear?

I have all these clothes and I just can’t decide on what to wear. I don’t want to dress too provocatively tonight and I have to keep in mind that the evening will be cool. I think we might go out dancing after dinner. Oh! I hope I have a comfortable pair of shoes.

Then there are the hair styles. Should I wear it up or down? Pulled back? Oh I just can’t decide. I’ll call Sara; she always has good fashion sense…

Ok! Deep breath, relax! Thank goodness for Sara. She suggested the green dress that I wore this past spring when we went to the Braves opening day game. She suggested I take a sweater to throw over my shoulders. Green brings out the color of my eyes.

I had my nails done on my lunch break. I had the girl do them in a red burgundy crème color. I don’t do the air brush. Anybody want to give me lessons on how to use it?

Richard

Richard is a guy I met at the gym. He takes the same spinning class as me. For a long time we would just see each other during class. However, for the last few weeks we have been talking after class. This morning we went to the local Starbucks for a latte…Together.

Anyway, he is a doctor and has something to do with infectious diseases, and he has an ass to die for. Ohmigod! He is so cute and charming! I couldn’t believe he actually asked me to meet him for coffee.

We talked about our spinning class and how our instructor is such a bitch. We talked about work and how he works in a bio-lab at Emory. I told him I graduated from Emory. We know some of the same people, small world.

So finally he got around to asking me out to dinner tomorrow night. Of course I said, “Yes.” He wants to go to Buckhead. Admittedly I’ve been out of touch this week, but I wouldn’t forget exposing a piece of myself. Today I’m celebrating my lips. Whether they are busy kissing or tasting, or smiling, I like to show them off. I like to use Clinique lip colors. They have a great selection of reds. Sometimes I use a luscious lip liner. Other times I keep it simple and plain. When I think of my lips, “Sweetness” always comes to mind. I’m not a big activist; however, I think breast cancer is an important cause. I may not have a whole lot when it comes to breasts, but I certainly want to keep the ones I’ve got. They may not be much but their mine.

Breast Cancer can be cured with early detection and early treatment. However more can be done. I added the pink ribbon to the sidebar. It links to the American Cancer Society. There is a plethora of information on their website. Go! Even though we were closing my pool for the winter, it wasn’t a sad occasion. The margaritas were particularly good too.

Today I have spent reading and getting ready for work next week. I have some really big meetings with some really important clients. These meetings are the kind that make or break careers. I’m not worried…ok just a little.

I did watch the Falcons win today. That Michael Vick is just so good. I have a pot roast on the stove for my dinner tonight. I loaded it full of potatoes and carrots and onions. I try to make my pot roast just like my Gran made it when I was a little girl. I’m about to make a pan of corn bread to accompany the roast. It will be my lunch for a couple of days next week too.

I like to cook. It’s hard to cook for one. I end up cooking a lot all at once and taking it to work for lunch. Stews and casseroles are always good for lunch. Sometimes I take a dish over to my neighbors. I might start putting some recipes up on my blog.

Bartender: Another Round…

…of Daiquiri’s pictures. That felt deliciously dirty!

This is my wonderfully, sweet kitty cat Daiquiri. She is a Maine Coon Cat and has been my companion for the last few years. She has stuck with me through three boyfriends and a few other gentleman callers too.

As you can tell, she is worn out from a long day of sleeping on the window sill, sleeping on my big bed, sleeping on the sofa, eating, and sleeping on one of my dining room chairs. She leads a tough life.

When I play the stereo, she swishes her tail to the music. However, she doesn’t care for the pool or the neighbor’s golden retriever, Barnum. She loves salmon and tuna, but doesn’t care for bonsai.

Daiquiri seems to sense the disingenuous men I’ve dated in the past. I’ve just failed to recognize the warning signs. One of the reasons I started blogging was to express myself in ways that I really can’t do in my professional and offline life.

I must say that trying to get the camera to cooperate was certainly a challenge. As for the stockings….That’s another story all together.

Awareness

I was reading over at Lemons and Lollipops a creepy story about how a sicko man tried to kidnap a little child from the mall. The little boy was only about two feet away from his mother. I shudder to think….

I thought about that story all night. I often worry about my personal safety. I’m a young single girl living alone in a big city. I feel safe in my neighborhood, but when I’m out at night or early morning I try to look out for danger. I have taken some self defense classes too. I think the biggest lesson I learned was to simply be aware of my surroundings. Someday when I have children, I’ll try to teach them to be aware of their surroundings. (Easier said than done…right Moms and Dads?)

It’s a horrible commentary that we have to be on guard 24/7. I know I’m prone to slip up from time to time, usually when I have been drinking. I don’t want to feel like I’m a prisoner either. I hate feeling so vulnerable.

Kiss and Make Up

Sara and I had a little conversation at the gym this morning. We are the best of friends. We were sorority sisters at Emory together…Kappas forever! Anyway, we don’t stay mad at each other for very long. We had a late lunch at Embers Grill today. They make the best beer right there in the restaurant. I had to have one with my steak salad.

This weekend is the last weekend for the pool. You can kind of see it in my profile picture. The water is just too cold now. I called the pool service to come next Monday and winterize it. That’s always a sad day. Anyway I decided to have a pool closing party this Saturday. It was really Sara’s idea. I’m only having a few close friends over. Besides it is kind of short notice. We’ll drink Margaritas and grill chicken. I might even try Mr. Bostick’s recipe.

Soon the leaves will start to change around here. I live close to the mountains. I’m just a little North of Atlanta. I’m close enough to the city to do fun stuff, but just far enough away to avoid all the bad crime. If I drive up the road about half an hour I’m in the mountains. I like the pretty leaves. It almost makes up for being too cold to swim…Not really but it makes me feel a little better.

Revenge...

The Apple Martinis were soooo good I had three. Anyway, he brought me a bouquet of flowers for my desk today, and invited me out for a drink after work tonight. I told him that I don’t date coworkers. He insisted that it wasn’t a date. He just wanted my company for a pre-game cocktail. Right! He so wants to date me (sleep with me.)

I told him I’d go only if Sara could come along. He said sure. I emailed her and she said she would meet us at the neighborhood pub. Actually we all meet up there after work. We wait until the traffic on 400 clears out. I could go for an apple martini about now. We’ll have two drinks and then head home. Bobby’s cute and all, but we work together. I’d hate to get that promotion and then have to fire him because I slept with him. I might even watch some of the NASCAR race too.

I don’t really like sports but I like to know what everyone is talking about at the office on Monday. She's so loud and obnoxious. You know she's in the View now. Ack Ack good think I work during the day. No Tivo for that show. You've Got Mail is just a friendly little movie that comforts me like my Mama's pot roast...comfort food you know?

Daiquiri really went crazy over that salmon last night. I really like the instructor, she knows just how hard to push us. There is this one girl who really gets on my last nerve. She is always flaunting herself at the cute guys at the gym. Don't get me wrong. I like to flirt, but this girl goes over the top practically throwing herself at them. I know these guys think that she's easy. I just hate to see a girl lower herself like that. She seems really smart and kinda cute. she doesn't have to behave that way. After she gets used a few times, she figure it out.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to me. I just turned twenty-five yesterday and I'm starting this Blog to document my life, my loves and my cats.

So I don't really have much of a life and my love life doesn't exist. But I do have a cat. Besides, my friend Sara really likes blogging so I promised her I'd try it out.

More Later,

Maddy
